City College Achieve Bronze!

City College Plymouth is thrilled to celebrate its achievement of bronze status in the Wellbeing at Work Award program, reflecting its dedicated effort to enhance the health and wellbeing of its staff.

Attaining the Wellbeing at Work Bronze Award requires businesses to set up a working group, conduct workplace health needs assessment, empower wellbeing champions to support their colleagues in leading healthy lives and create an action plan. Throughout the process, they are guided by a Wellbeing at Work Advisor.

Greg Price, Health Improvement Manager, Wellbeing at Work at Livewell Southwest, said:

Carla Braddon-Harris, Wellbeing Champion, Training and Development Department, said:

“Achieving the Bronze Award is a powerful milestone for our college, as it reflects our commitment to putting our staff’s wellbeing at the heart of our culture. It’s incredible to see wellbeing valued so highly and to know that our efforts are making a real difference. We’ve worked hard on developing programmes like mindfulness sessions and resilience workshops, which help our staff manage stress and build supportive networks. Moving forward, I’m excited to focus on achieving the Silver Award and I’m excited to expand our network of Wellbeing Champions across all campuses so that every staff member feels their health and wellbeing are a top priority.”

“My focus for the future is to expand the Wellbeing Champions network across all campuses and to work closely with Art of Brilliance in delivering mental health and wellbeing sessions, such as bounce-back-ability and resilience workshops, ensuring that wellbeing remains a top priority throughout our college.”

Lia Roberts, Wellbeing Champion, People Management Department, said:

“The Bronze Award is a testament to our teamwork and our commitment to building a healthy workplace. As a Wellbeing Champion, I’ve seen how our initiatives, such as physical fitness programs and stress management training can change lives. We’re creating a stronger, more resilient community here, and I’m thrilled to be part of it. Our next goal is to work toward the Silver Award by strengthening our physical health programs and ensuring access to mental health resources for all staff members.”

My focus for the future, is to develop more physical wellness initiatives, focusing on improving both physical and mental resilience across the department.”

Carrie Riding, Wellbeing Champion, People Management Department, said:

“Receiving the Bronze Award highlights our college’s dedication to wellbeing, which is so important in today’s work environment. As a Wellbeing Champion, I’m proud of how far we’ve come, from launching our mindfulness space to integrating wellbeing activities in daily routines. We’re building a positive and supportive culture that empowers staff and students alike. Looking ahead, I’m excited to pursue the Silver Award by creating more wellbeing resources, supporting mental health awareness, and embedding these values into every part of college life.”

“I’m now aiming to introduce regular mental health awareness campaigns, offering resources and workshops to sustain a supportive, inclusive college environment.”

Paul Preston, Wellbeing Champion, IT Team, said:

“Ensuring that all IT equipment is ready and functioning smoothly is a key part of creating a supportive environment at the college. Reliable technology reduces stress and allows staff and students to focus on their work and learning without interruptions. As a Wellbeing Champion, I see how these details contribute to a positive atmosphere. Moving forward, I’m excited to introduce more AI tools into our Wellbeing Champions group, helping us to create new ways to support mental health and wellbeing college-wide.”

“With that, my future plan is integrating AI technologies within the Wellbeing Champions network, enhancing the college’s ability to provide timely, innovative wellbeing support to staff and students.”

The Wellbeing at Work Team is excited to continue collaborating with City College Plymouth, supporting staff health and wellbeing initiatives, as well as the Wellbeing at Work Silver and Gold Awards.
