Commissioned by Plymouth City Council to deliver services to businesses and communities in Plymouth or to those businesses with over 50% of their employees having a Plymouth postcode.

Plymouth (Child Maintenance Group) Service Centre first to achieve Gold Award

One of the main Child Maintenance Group (CMG) Service Centres is celebrating after becoming the first Plymouth business to achieve a Gold award within the Wellbeing at Work Award programme, which is coordinated by the Wellbeing at Work Team at Livewell Southwest.

The Plymouth (CMG) Service Centre is part of the wider Department for Work and Pensions (DWP).  Colleagues have been working alongside Wellbeing at Work for a number of years and previously established Wellbeing Champions, an annual health needs assessment, and a health and wellbeing steering group, to achieve a Bronze award in October 2019.

Jennifer Jenkins, Specialist Health Improvement Practitioner, Livewell Southwest, said: ‘We are so excited to have our first Gold Award winner!  The Plymouth CMG Service Centre has a fantastic reputation of putting staff wellbeing at the top of its agenda.  The business consistently prioritises the health and wellbeing of their employees and strives to remain supportive and connected with staff even in challenging times.  The Plymouth CMG Service Centre is fiercely competitive when it comes to displaying their staff wellbeing talents and so it is no surprise to us that they have become our first Gold Award employer.  The organisation is an inspiration to other Plymouth businesses and we hope it encourages others to follow in their footsteps.’

In order to achieve the Wellbeing at Work Gold Award, businesses are asked to choose to work on four toolkits (three toolkits were completed for the Silver Award).  Plymouth CMG Service Centre chose to work on the following: ‘Domestic Abuse’, ‘Sleep and recovery’ and ‘Drugs, alcohol and tobacco’, and ‘Musculoskeletal health in the workplace’. Each toolkit provides a range of advice, information, resource links and assessment criteria for each toolkit to complete.

Natalie Puckey, Service Centre Support Team, Plymouth Child Maintenance Group, said: ‘Given the current pandemic situation we all find ourselves living through, we have had to work hard to find new ways of supporting our colleagues and maintaining our commitment to wellbeing.  The criteria in the Wellbeing at Work Award scheme has helped us retain a focus and ensure we continue to put wellbeing at the heart of our culture.’

The Plymouth CMG Service Centre will be officially presented with their framed award at the Wellbeing at Work Annual Conference in April 2021, and in the meantime, will receive a certificate in recognition of their considerable achievement.  The organisation will now take the next steps in working towards Continued Excellence which includes the Compassionate Employers programme with St Luke’s, Plymouth and Disability Confident scheme with PLUSS CIC.
